Юніорська олімпіада 2026
From the 24-th to the 30-th of July, the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics 2026 took place in Kaunas, Lithuania. A total of 100 contestants from 25 countries participated in the olympiad.
This year’s olympiad was co-organized by Lithuania and Ukraine. As a result, eight Ukrainian contestants participated instead of the usual four.
The European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI) is an international olympiad for younger school students. Its main goal is to encourage younger students’ interest in information technology, promote competitive software development across Europe, and recognize the most talented young students in the field of IT. The olympiad is open to all school students who are under the age of 15 as of the 31-st of December of the academic year.
The Ukrainian team won two silver medals, three bronze medals, and one honorable mention.
The official Ukrainian team consisted of:
🥈 Benedykt Kvasnytsya, an 8th-grade student at Lviv Lyceum No. 52 (coaches: Yaroslav Pyrih and Kyrylo Hrynevych), won a silver medal;
🥈 Maksym Bondarenko, a 10th-grade student at Boyko Author’s School (coaches: Oleksandr Mitsa and Serhii Vapnichnyi), won a silver medal;
🥉 Illia Denysiuk, a 10th-grade student at Khmelnytskyi Lyceum No. 17 (coach: Andrii Popik), won a bronze medal;
🥉 Denys Ilienkov, a 10th-grade student at Kryvyi Rih Lyceum No. 129, won a bronze medal.
The unofficial Ukrainian team consisted of:
🥉 Oleksii Syvak, a 10th-grade student at the Lviv Physics and Mathematics Lyceum (coach: Rostyslav Shpakovych), won a bronze medal;
📜 Oleksandr Chernysh, a 9th-grade student at Kharkiv Lyceum No. 47 (coach: Oleksandr Shcherbakov), received an honorable mention;
🍀 Leonid Tuz, a 10th-grade student at the Ukrainian Physics and Mathematics Lyceum (coaches: Valentyna Potiienko, Vladyslav Zavodnyk, and Kyrylo Hrynevych);
🍀 Artem Dzhavakhishvili, a 10th-grade student at Kremenchuk Lyceum “Polit” (coach: Valentyn Melnyk).
The team leaders were Serhii Zhukovskyi, Yevhen Kozolup, and Stepan Simak. The trip was organized by the Ukrainian Federation of Olympiad Programming. The trip was sponsored by Citadel.
The Ukrainian side of the olympiad was organized by Daryna Karpenko, Melisa Haliba, Maryna Nadtochii, and Anton Tsypko.
The Olympiad’s Scientific Committee included Ihor Barenblat, Vasyl Merenych, Andrii Stolitnii, Daria Perekopska, and Illia Shevchenko.
During this olympiad, Anton Tsypko was elected President of the Olympiad for a three-year term.
